HAKA - Stand as a Nation
Haka: Stand as a Nation was a powerful cultural event held at Eden Park Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, celebrating the traditions and spirit of Māori heritage. The event brought people together to break the world record for the largest haka, a title previously held by France—a goal they successfully achieved. Organized and driven by Emma Henderson from Ballyhoo, it was an honor to contribute to this historic event as part of her team.
Service
Poster Design, Corporate invitations & packages, Image curation.

I was given the responsibility of creating several visual assets for the event including poster designs for schools, corporate invites, corporate package deals, insuring sponsorship and partnership logo cohesion, and post event image curation for social media (not all assets are showcased here as some hold private information and some images have not yet been released online). Image above is the final iteration of the school poster designs. Below are several draft designs.

The existing logo served as a foundational anchor, maintaining its recognizability while being thoughtfully integrated into new layouts and compositions. I explored ways to amplify their impact through colour applications, layering techniques, and supporting graphic elements that enhanced the storytelling. Below are the different elements I used to create the new poster designs.

For the assets, I had to ensure that they aligned with the brand guidelines and visual. This involved creating assets that highlighted the cultural significance of the event while appealing to the target audiences. I integrated traditional Māori motifs, typography, and balanced layouts to communicate the event’s themes of unity and cultural pride.
